Small World News has conducted dozens of workshops in countries around the globe. In the last year Small World News has conducted trainings in Serbia, Kurdistan, Afghanistan and Burundi alone. Trainings can range from a few days to a few weeks. We have provided workshop to individual news organizations run in their own newsrooms as well as workshops arranged by a local partner open to the community of journalists and activists.

We offer a team of highly experienced trainers and a network of local partners, along with variety of training resources and work with organizations to develop a workshop to fit their specific needs.

Training topics include:

• Social media for start-ups, activists and citizen journalists

• Using mobiles to produce audio, photo and video

• The principles of good journalism and journalism ethics

• Assorted special projects such as elections coverage or the development of an Aliv.in/ network
